Access for people with disabilities is available by permit at the San Gabriel River Ranger District located in Glendora.

Glenn Camp:

Located off West Fork Road. Three sites are available for people with disabilities. Call first for availability.

OFF-HIGHWAY VEHICLE AREAS & ROUTES

:

Registration and Forest Service approved spark arrestors are required. ATV and dirt bike riders must wear a helmet. ATV riders under age 18 must complete a safety class. All vehicles must meet local, State and Federal laws.



No Alcoholic beverages are allowed

.


Areas may be closed at any time due to unsafe conditions caused by storms, fire danger or excessive-use capacity.

San Gabriel Canyon OHV Area:

Located in the riverbed, is open to the public, Saturday/Sunday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., exit at posted closing times. OHV only.

Rincon/Shortcut OHV Route:

The

Rincon portion

of the road is open for 10 miles to a closed gate. Enter and exit at Hwy 39 only. The

Shortcut portion

of the road is closed until further notice. The following vehicles may access the Rincon road: 4x4s, Jeeps, high clearance pick-ups, high clearance SUVs and green sticker off-highway vehicles.
Vehicles: Pick-up trucks, Jeeps, high-clearance SUVs must have red or blue vehicle stickers.
Each driver must obtain his OWN permit w/combination. Please provide current vehicle registration and driver’s license. Obtain permit at San Gabriel district office Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or San Gabriel Canyon Off Highway Vehicle Area Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

CAMPGROUNDS

:



Coldbrook Campground (mm 32.18)

:

Will remain open throughout the winter. First-come, first-served. No reservations. $12 per site for one vehicle and $5 for second vehicle. Vault toilets. Fire in the fire ring (bring your own wood) and charcoal must be used in the grill provided by the Forest Service.

Crystal Lake Campground (mm 38.13)

: Will remain

open until inclement weather causes water shut off.

Fee envelopes are available at the gate next to the Visitor Center.

Gate access is between 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.


Fawnskin Picnic Area: Charcoal only in the grills provided by the Forest Service. No wood fires. Propane/Gas stoves are acceptable. Cost is $5 for parking. Adventure Pass or Interagency will be accepted.
Camp sites in

Loops A, B and C (36 total)

are OPEN

for overnight camping (drive-in). First-come, first-served. No reservations.

All other sites are closed

. Campsites are $12 per site for one vehicle and $5 for second vehicle. Fire in the fire ring (bring your own wood) and charcoal must be used in the grill provided by the Forest Service. Drinking water is available at the site.

The access road to the lake is open to vehicle traffic. Fishing license required.

NO Swimming

.


Visitor Centers may be open weekends when volunteers are available.

Crystal Lake Store hours are 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Closed Monday. Open on major holidays. Store accepts major credit cards with a minimum $10 purchase.


Glenn Trail Camp:

Open. Ten accessible sites available. Seven (7) mile access by hike-in or bicycle. Vehicle access with permit for people with disabilities. Pit toilet and stream water available. Fire in the fire ring and charcoal must be used in the grill provided by the Forest Service.

Campfire permit is required.

Manker Flats Campground

: Will remain

open until inclement weather causes water shut off.

First-come, first-served. No reservations. Cost: $12 per site for one vehicle and $5 for second vehicle. Flush toilets and running water. Fire in the fire ring (bring your own wood) and charcoal must be used in the grill provided by the Forest Service. Personal propane or gas stoves/grills may be used.


RIVERS and STREAMS:


FISHING:

A valid California fishing license is required. For stocking information, contact the California State Fish and Game Department at (562) 594-7268.


West Fork

: Open. Only artificial flies or lures with a barbless hook may be used in the

West Fork and its tributaries. From the second crossing up it is “Catch and Release” only.



East Fork / North Fork / San Antonio River

: Open

San Gabriel Dam

: North shoreline only.

Crystal Lake

: Open. Vehicle accessible. Hike-in 1 mile from campground.

NO swimming

The Oaks:

14 group picnic sites for

Day-Use Only

. No camping. Restrooms are available. Charcoal allowed in the grills provided.

No wood fires.

Propane and pressurized gas grills or camp stoves are allowed. An Adventure Pass or Interagency Passport is required.

Fawnskin Picnic Area: Day Use only.

Charcoal only in the grills provided by the Forest Service.

No wood fires.


HIKING TRAILS

:

GENERAL INFORMATION: For safety reasons, hiking trails are

not

recommended for

equestrian

or

bicycle

travel.

During the winter months trail conditions will change; watch the trails/roads for snow, ice and high water conditions, etc.

Mt. Baldy

trails and peak

: Open.

Cucamonga Wilderness trails

: Open. Wilderness Permit required.

Icehouse Canyon

: Open. Wilderness Permit required.

Bridge to Nowhere

(Sheep Mountain Wilderness): Open. Wilderness Permit required if entering at East Fork trailhead.

West Fork Road and Bear Creek trails:

Open

Upper Bear Creek Trail

(off Hwy 39): 5.5 miles one-way to Bear Creek.

Lower Bear Creek Trail

(off the West Fork): 1 mile to the trailhead.

Crystal Lake Area trails:

Open.
